How Our Roll Call System Works

Upon activation of an emergency event, Roll Call compiles a real-time list of all individuals currently within a designated area.

This list is generated based on access events, such as employees swiping their access cards or fobs at entry points.

The system then produces a roll call report that can be accessed via the Net2 software, Paxton Connect Admin, or Net2Online web interface.

Frequently Asked Questions

Emergency lockdown procedures are all about keeping people and assets safe in times of crisis. Whether it’s an intruder, a threat, or any safety concern, knowing how to react quickly and efficiently can make a world of difference in safeguarding everyone on your premises.

1. Access Control Panels: These are like the gatekeepers stationed at key entry and exit points.

2. Access Control Software: This is your command centre. With a simple click, administrators can initiate an emergency lockdown.

3. Emergency Buttons and Mobile Access: Paxton gives you multiple ways to start a lockdown. There are physical buttons in crucial spots and mobile access for those in charge.

When a lockdown kicks in, here’s what happens:

– All assigned doors and gates lock up tight, keeping unauthorised folks out.

– Access cards and fobs get a temporary holiday, so only authorised people can move around.

– Alarms go off, and notifications shoot out to alert security or the right authorities.

Emergency lockdowns are critical in a range of places:

– Schools and Universities: Lockdowns keep students and staff safe from intruders or security threats.

– Corporate Spaces: Businesses use lockdowns to shield employees during surprise emergencies, like workplace violence or security breaches.

– Healthcare: Hospitals use lockdowns to secure sensitive areas, ensuring the well-being of patients and healthcare heroes.

– Factories and Warehouses: Industrial setups rely on lockdowns to tackle safety hazards and stop any uninvited visitors.

Getting your emergency lockdown plan ready with Paxton Access Control is as easy as pie. Administrators can decide which doors or gates need locking, create schedules for lockdowns, and appoint the folks who can give the green light for lockdowns. Plus, you can even trigger a lockdown from your smartphone for a lightning-fast response.

Paxton Lockdown is a specialised emergency response feature within Paxton’s access control systems, enabling organisations to quickly secure doors and zones to protect people during security threats.

Paxton Net2 Lockdown integrates with the Net2 access control platform, allowing centralised control to lockdown selected doors or entire sites instantly, either manually or automatically, using software or hardware triggers.

An access control lockdown button is a physical device that can be installed on-site to manually trigger a lockdown. It offers fast, reliable activation of Paxton Lockdown without needing to access software systems.

The Paxton Roll Call feature is an integrated emergency roll-call tool within Paxton Net2 and Paxton Connect (Net2Online). It enables administrators to generate real-time reports of who is currently within designated areas, especially vital during emergencies like fire alarms, from all authorised users in a facility.
  • Area Definition: Administrators create and configure areas or area groups that define zones for roll call tracking.
  • Reader Configuration: Access readers are designated as entry/exit or muster point readers. Presenting a token at a muster reader marks a user as “Safe” in the report.
  • Report Generation:
    1. Manual Trigger: From the Roll Call screen, select an area group and click Create new. Use the “Advanced” option to generate reports for a specific date/time.
    2. Automatic Trigger: Set up via “Triggers and Actions” to automatically generate a Roll Call report upon fire alarm activation.
    3. Execution: Once generated, users are initially marked as Missing. They become Safe by swiping at a muster reader or being manually marked as found via the report UI.

The system works via:

  • Paxton Connect Admin or Net2Online Web UI: Online generation with real-time syncing across devices, even if temporarily offline.
  • Paxton iOS App: Operators can generate roll calls locally, mark users as found when offline, and reconcile once connectivity returns.
  • Ensure Net2 server and ACUs are always online for accurate tracking.
  • Configure areas and access points precisely; entry/exit roles must align correctly to maintain count accuracy.
  • Use door contacts when possible as they enhance reporting accuracy.
  • Set up purge and inactivity rules: Clear daily or after predefined inactivity to maintain report clarity.
  • For offline resilience, define muster readers clearly, and ensure muster point devices are configured properly, even creating a mock “door” device if needed.

Yes. Reports can be printed, emailed, or viewed on-site (e.g., in a gatehouse) depending on configuration. Email functionality requires an email server to be set up.

Users who remain Missing stay listed for up to three days before being automatically cleared from the report.

  • Users must swipe through all controlled access points. Anti-passback settings help enforce this.
  • If access readers or area configurations are misdefined, location tracking will fail to capture movements accurately.
